Itineraries
DAY 01:
SALTA – CITY TOUR
Arrival in Salta and transfer to hotel. In the afternoon, we will meet with our guide at the arranged time. We will visit the historical buildings of Salta: San Bernardo Convent, San Francisco Church and then the main square of the city. Later, we will discover the MAAM (Museum ofHigh Altitude Archeology) to find out more about the High Altitude Sanctuaries of the Andes and the Incafootprint in Salta, in a unique approach to the National Geographic discovery of an Inca Sanctuary at the22.000 feet Summit of the Llullaillaco Volcano in the Andes and to the Pre-Colombian History of Southamerica. We will also visit some of the most authentic markets and shops. Return to hotel. Overnight in Salta.DAY 02:
SALTA / CAFAYATE
After breakfast, we will depart to visit Cafayate. The tour starts at the Valle de Lerma through tobacco fields and towns of colonial architecture. We will enter to the Quebrada del Rìo Las Conchas where curious formations eroded by wind and water will be the main attractions: the dunes, the toad, the bishop, the Devil's Throat, castles, amphitheater, among others. We will arrive to Cafayate, internationally recognized by the strains of its wines, specially “Torrontés”, which can be tasted in the visits to cellar wines. We will return to Salta through the same route, but with a completely different sunlight. Overnight in Salta.DAY 03:
SAFARI CLOUDS – SALTA/SAN ANTONIO DE LOS COBRES/SALINAS GRANDES/PURMAMARCA
"Safari to the Clouds" offers the unique possibility to combine three captive landscapes of Northwest Argentina in an unforgettable day. First, the "Road to the Clouds" following the tracks of the famous “Train to Clouds”, admiring this magnificent engineering work started in the `20s by the Quebrada del Toro to San Antonio de los Cobres. Second, the crossing of the Puna by Route 38 where we will see llamas and vicuñas, then reach the Salinas Grandes in Jujuy border. And third, Cuesta de Lipàn, down 2.000 m in 35 km and the transition from Desert of the Puna to the fertility of the wettest valleys and then reach the picturesque village of Purmamarca at the foot of the famous “Cerro de los 7 Colores”. Overnight in Purmamarca.DAY 04:
QUEBRADA DE HUMAHUACA / SALTA
After breakfast we will go to discover the famous Quebrada de Humahuaca, declared by the United Nations as a World Heritage Site, delights with its bright colors: To the attractions of "Safari to the Clouds" on the first day other spectacular points of Northwest Argentina are added in the second, and rock formations product of a vast combination of minerals and natural agents. Each of their towns: Purmamarca, Maimarà, Tilcara with its Pre-Columbian Indian Ruins, Uquía and Humahuaca, reflect and transmit the idiosyncrasy of the northern, peaceful, warm, as the weather. In the afternoon we will return to Salta. Overnight in “Finca Valentina” to tasting a traditional wine in the “Valles Calchaquies”, with a traditional dinner.DAY 05:
